It was 1914 and World War 1 had begun. It took place in Europe. World War 1 happened because the British had a fight with France and so they went to war and the British asked Australia to go with them and Australia said “yes”. Australia, France, Italy, U.S and Britain were involved in the World War 1 and they all fought. The World War 1 went right from 1914 till 1918 and millions of soldiers were killed.
In 1914 Austria had declared war on Serbia. Germany had also declared war on Russia and many soldiers were killed. 310,000 people had died over only two wars. During the two wars turkey had decided to help fight in the war with another country, Germany. Meanwhile Britain had declared war against Germany.
In 1915 a raid took place in Britain. Innocent people were killed and were also used as s laves to fight in the war. Germany declared war against Austria and millions of people were killed. The Allies started to try to evacuate back to their boats from Gallipoli but many, many people were killed due to their order to fall back to their boats. The Lusitania was sunk by a German U-boat.
In 1916 the U.S marines landed in Halite and joined the war. There were 60,000 deaths in only 1 day for the U.S marines. Loved ones were lost. The Black Tom Island was bombed by a German sabotage.
On September the 23rd Germany had begun building the Hindenburg line. On December the 18th the U.S President Wilson sent a peace note to the belligerents.
In 1917 and 1918 the U.S General made a request for 1,000,000 men to go fight in America. Soldiers finished fighting and survived war only to be shot by sniper rifles and killed. Having lost their fight the Germans had to retreat back to the Hindenburg line and they gave up.
This event was very important because it happened world wide and many soldiers didn’t return home to their loved ones. War is a horrible time and who ever fights in it deserves to be honoured with medals.
